ABOUT

blogs about theology, philosophy blog, christian theology and philosophy, a blog about theology, philosophy, church, and cultureMy name is Sheb Varghese.

My parents raised me in the Christian faith and my dad worked as a missionary and a pastor. So I had the opportunity to experience a variety of cultures, and see many parts of the world.

Although my parents were Pentecostal, I grew up surrounded by different Christian denominations such as Baptist, Nazarene and Presbyterian. Currently, I belong to an Anglican church.

I was very blessed to attend a classical Christian school throughout Junior High and High School, and so I had the privilege to study thinkers like Plato, Aquinas, and Luther. My high school experience was incredibly formative in my life, and it led me to study philosophy at Northwest University, where I graduated with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy. I earned an M.A. in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and I'm currently working on a Ph.D. in theology from the University of Aberdeen. My thesis is on the topic of friendship in Aristotle and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

I am a passionate follower of Jesus, and I want to bring every thought captive in obedience to Christ. I am very happily married to the love of my life, and I have three wonderful children.

In addition to my interest in theology and philosophy, I really enjoy film. My top five favorite movies are The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Batman Begins, Inception, and The Emperor's New Groove.

Faith Colloquium is a space to have thoughtful dialogues about theology, philosophy, church, and culture.
